// MELBOURNE, AND EVERYWHERE ELSE

We are the local ones, and we work nationally

We manage the security of your business and work alongside your IT person or provider, who keeps the everyday IT. Ferres Systems is based in Melbourne, Victoria. Most of what we do is delivered remotely and is identical for a client in Perth, so this page is about the part that is different when you are down the road: the work that needs someone in the room.

What to expect when the work needs someone on site

Monitoring, triage, incident response, assessments, penetration testing, cloud work, policies and evidence are delivered remotely and work the same way wherever you are. What being in Victoria changes is how on-site time is arranged.

Scheduled on-site work is booked on the dates in the agreed scope, including evenings and weekends where a cutover needs it, and priced before you agree to it.

Urgent on-site attendance is arranged when remote containment is not enough, subject to availability. It is billed at standard rates, agreed first, because on-site support is not part of the monthly plans.

// WHAT WE TURN UP FOR

The work that needs someone in the room

01

Cutovers and migrations

When a server room is being retired or a cutover has to happen out of hours, someone is in the building. Weekend and evening work is normal for this and is scoped as such.

02

Physical decommissioning

Old hardware holds data long after everyone has stopped thinking about it. Wiping and disposing of it properly is a job that has to be done in person, and we do it.

03

Network and infrastructure work

Cabling, switches, access points and the parts of an office network that cannot be configured from a laptop somewhere else.

04

Staff security training

Training often works better in a room than on a call, and for Melbourne clients it is straightforward to schedule.

05

Sitting in on the hard conversation

Board meetings, insurer conversations, the post-incident debrief. Sometimes the useful thing is a person at the table who can answer follow-ups.

Interstate on-site work can be arranged and scoped too, with travel priced in the scope before you decide.

// ASKED BY VICTORIAN BUSINESSES

The local questions

Actually in Melbourne. The team works from Victoria, on Australian hours, and George leads engagements from here. There is no reception desk to visit, because the work is not done that way, but the people are real and local and you will meet the one who owns your engagement before anything is signed.

No. Monitoring, triage, incident response, assessments and GRC work are the same wherever you are. The difference is on-site time, which is easier to schedule here and carries no interstate travel.

Greater Melbourne and regional Victoria. For regional sites, travel time is written into the scope for the work.

Scheduled on-site work happens on the dates agreed in the scope, including evenings or weekends where a cutover needs it. For something urgent, work starts remotely. Managed security clients get a named Ferres Systems responder on every confirmed incident, and on a priority one it is handled within 30 minutes of triage confirming it, at any hour, with containment starting promptly. How long containment takes depends on the incident, the access available and the systems affected. If remote work is not enough, urgent on-site attendance is arranged, subject to availability.

Scheduled on-site work is priced in the written scope before you agree to it. Urgent on-site attendance is billed at our standard rates, agreed with you first, because on-site support is not part of the monthly plans.
